As tempting as it is to take a long hot bath, the solution for dry skin is a warm bath or shower for no longer than ten minutes. Use a body washes that is made from natural vegetable contents for the gentlest cleansing. Pat your skin dry as opposed to rubbing towel roughly over skin to avoid scratching. This is especially important for your face. Always rinse skin with warm water and gently pat dry, never rub.

The humidity in your home has a great deal with the dryness of your skin as well. For best result in soothing skin the more humid the home is the better. An easy way to increase humidity is to place a bowl of water close to heater vents. Replace the water often to prevent growth of mold or bacteria.

For the most optimum benefits of moisturizers, apply immediately after showering or bathing. The skin will absorb the moisture more than waiting until the body is completely dry.
